Introduction

The Internet has become, in a few years, the most popular means of telecommunication. It attracts all those who want to learn, share and access information of all kinds. Individuals consider it a fun tool, and businesses use it, in turn, to promote their image on a large scale at low cost and to exchange data as quickly as possible.

Connecting to this network is a major social and economic issue which creates lots of interest. The first stage of this operation is establishing a physical connection to the network. This service is offered by firms offering different options which are sometime difficult to distinguish. This document establishes the main components of the legal and financial framework governing Internet connectivity.

Description

The Internet Connection Agreement is the instrument which governs the relationship between an person, known as the ACCESS PROVIDER, who offers connection services to the Internet, and a person, named the SUBSCRIBER, who wishes to subscribe to the service offered in order to connect to the Internet. The subscriber can then connect to the server of the ISP, to transmit and receive information circulating on the Internet.

The code of ethics attached as schedule to this agreement is designed to universalize the behavior of a "good user" and to remind users that the "network of networks", even though it doesn’t belong to anyone, is still regulated by rules.

Use

We recommend the use of this framework document to govern the relationship between an Internet service provider, whether it is the operator of a cable system or a third party service provider, and a person or entity wishing to subscribe.

We strongly suggest to use agreements for any matter that relates to the Internet. The Internet is a worldwide network, which makes it nearly impossible to control. Using contracts will allow the parties to avoid conflicts regarding the applicable law governing their relationship.

In addition, the Internet Connection Agreement allows the access provider to limit its liability, while enlightening their subscribers on the services they offer.
